Council Reform

#MakeMinot informally organized in September of 2015 to advocate for a single issue — starting a community conversation on the makeup and manner by which we elect our City of Minot officers. After a roundabout path that included petitions, charter changes, and formal resolutions, the citizens of Minot were asked if they wanted a change to our form of government.

On June 14, 2016, the citizens spoke loudly in favor of changing our form of government to a 7-member Modern Council. That same election also saw two of our organizing members elected to seats on the current City Council. Transition to our new governing board is scheduled for June of 2017.

With a significant success under our belt, those involved with #MakeMinot and others interested having conversations about what’s best for Minot are coming together to capture the momentum of the movement and focus it towards what’s next.

Everyone’s welcome to be involved, so if you’d like to become an ambassador, just start doing it. You don’t need ours or anyone’s permission to #MakeMinot, but if you’d like to see how we can help, get in touch below.
